The Impact of Low Attendance On Your Child
It is our ethos at Town Farm Primary School to pursue the highest possible standards in education so each pupil is able to achieve their full potential.
The school staff, alongside the Local Authority, firmly believe that all pupils benefit from regular school attendance in order to make good progress and become successful learners. We know that every day lost to education can have a serious impact on pupils’ attainment and overall progress in school. As staff we encourage parents and carers to ensure that the pupils in our care achieve maximum possible attendance and that any problems that prevent full attendance are identified and acted on promptly.
Low attendance can have significant impacts on children's educational outcomes and their overall development. Here are some examples:
Academic Performance: regular attendance is crucial for learning foundational skills in literacy and numeracy. Missing school frequently leads to lower academic achievement.
Social Skills Development: children with low attendance may miss out on important interactions with peers, which can affect their ability to communicate, collaborate, and build relationships.
Behavioural Issues: lack of engagement in school can lead to behavioural problems. Children who are frequently absent may feel disconnected and disengaged, which can result in frustration and acting out.
Emotional and Psychological Effects: Frequent absences can lead to feelings of anxiety or low self-esteem. Children may feel isolated if they are not part of the school community.
