Parent Partnership

Partnership with Parents

Research shows that involving parents and carers in their children’s learning is the most important factor in enabling some children to do well regardless of background.

Working in partnership with parents and carers is central to the early years foundation stage (EYFS).

We offer a range of opportunities for parents and carers to become involved in their children’s learning:

  • daily chats with key persons/teacher
  • time for the child to settle in
  • attending a workshop on different areas of learning
  • home visits

Many parents ask what they can to do help their child prepare for Reception. Here are a few ideas:

  • Developing independence: Putting on coats and shoes unaided, recognition of their name for their belongings
  • Develop turn taking: Learning to share resources and waiting patiently for resources, lunch, snack etc.
  • Develop language through conversation of home language: Reading and sharing stories or play together
  • Eating independently: use cutlery appropriately, ability to separate from key adults for this time period

Chatterboxes

We encourage families to create a 'Chatterbox' for children to bring into school so they can talk about their home life and what is special to them. This enables children to gain confidence in their communication and language skills and builds a link between home and school.

Tapestry

At Town Farm, we use Tapestry to track, assess and observe our learners in Nursery and Reception. It offers one, complete solution to tracking, documenting, moderating and reporting children’s learning from Birth-5yrs.

Parents have online access to their child’s learning using a safe platform on a computer, tablet or phone. For more information please see below or visit: Online Learning Journal For Early Years Education | Tapestry
